Herbal Medicine

Common issues we treat with herbs:
– Arthritis & chronic pain conditions
– Cough, cold, flu, & breathing Issues
– Digestive complaints
– Gynecological Issues, including painful periods, heavy periods, fertility, hormone imbalance, menopause, & more
-Skin conditions, including difficult conditions like acne, eczema, psoriasis, & rosacea

Herbal Consults + Follow Ups

During your initial consultation, we will create a treatment plan and an individualized formula to meet your health goals. As your treatment progresses and your body balances in response to your formula, we may adjust what you are taking. You can take herbs in pill, tincture or tea forms for a natural, non-pharmacological approach to your health concerns.
Some conditions require more extensive Herbal Consults which we offer as 30 minute consults. Simple conditions may only require a 10 minute consult, which is an add-on service to your acupuncture sessions.

Duration

Total treatment time varies with each person and presentation. For more acute issues, you may see results within a few days. For more chronic issues, it may take many weeks to 6 months, depending on the severity and duration of your presentation. Even with the most complex cases, improvement is seen within the first few weeks, providing an incentive to continue with the treatment.

Frequency

Most formulas require you to take your formula 2-3 times a day from a few days for acute concerns or a few months for more complex health concerns.

Pricing

A private herbal consult costs $85 for the initial and $50 for follow-ups. The herbal consult add-on to your acupuncture session costs $25. The price of herbs per week can vary from $15-$100 dependent on the formulation. Pills formulations tend to be cheaper at about $100 per month. Raw herbs that you will cook into a tea may be necessary for more complex health concerns and cost up to $100 per week. Raw herbs are the most effective way to receive herbal therapy.

Cupping + Gua Sha

We provide cupping and gua sha for wide range of ailments. Cupping uses suction to mobilize blood flow and promote the healing of a various ailments, including pain and respiratory issues. At Jersey Community Acupuncture, we offer cupping and gua sha as both an add-on to your acupuncture treatments or a stand alone full body treatment. It is a great adjunct therapy for pain and stress reduction.

We will work together to moderate the depth of cupping and gua sha. Some people have visible “sha” or redness after a treatment, while other people have little to none.

This therapy dates back to ancient Egyptian, Chinese, and Middle Eastern cultures. One of the oldest medical textbooks in the world, the Ebers Papyrus, describes how the ancient Egyptians were using cupping therapy in 1,550 B.C. Interestingly, european traditions also use cupping for respiratory issues.

Microneedling

Microneedling is a collagen induction therapy and encourages the skin’s natural ability to repair itself. These specialized treatments create superficial “micro-channels” to induce a healing process, new collagen production and skin resurfacing. Treatments have been shown to reduce the visibility of acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, diminish hyperpigmentation, improve skin tone and texture. Microneedling treatments can even encourage hair growth.

Low Level Light Therapy

Low Level Light Therapy can naturally relieve pain, treat acne, and reduce signs of aging through the therapeutic power of light. This FDA approved device provides the clinical benefits of pain relief in conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, bursitis, tendonitis, sprains, and temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJ), shoulder and neck pain, back and joint pain, arthritis, and neuralgias, and more. Dependent on the color light used, it can also reduce the signs of aging and treat active acne.
