Acupuncture

Acupuncture originated in China over 2,000 years ago and helps the energy in our body (Qi) to flow properly. By using hair-thin needles, acupuncture stimulates specific acu-points on the body to unblock obstructions that cause pain and disharmony. Thousands of years of experience taught acupuncturists that when energy is blocked in the body, it can create illness.  Acupuncture regulates and restores the harmonious energetic balance of the body. Acupuncture is performed by licensed and board certified practitioners. Only single-use, sterilized needles are used during treatment. Acupuncture is safe and has very few side effects (if any).

In western medical and scientific terms, the exact mechanism is still unknown. Recent theories include: the ability of acupuncture to modulate neuroendocrine functions, endorphin mediated pain relief, and new ideas on the role of fascia in an organisms well-being. Read below to learn more about how we deliver acupuncture in the clinic via Community Acupuncture, Private Acupuncture or Facial Rejuvenation. We can treat the same conditions in all settings. You choose the setting that feels right for you.

Community acupuncture is an international movement to create access to acupuncture by making treatments affordable. We utilize a sliding scale of $25-50 (initial appointment is $40-60) and treat you while you rest in a comfortable recliner in our serene community treatment room. During your initial consultation and treatment, your acupuncturist will give you a treatment plan that will include a series of acupuncture treatments over a certain period of time. Cupping, gua sha, low level light therapy or herbal medicine may be recommended, dependent on your needs and desires.

You will be with other people quietly receiving treatment at the same time. Patients benefit in many ways from the community setting. In our busy society, it is not often we stop and take time to relax. In the group treatment room, you will rest peacefully and silently while others do the same, receiving their individualized acupuncture treatment.

We use points on the head, ear and below the elbows and knees to treat the entire body, so there’s no need to undress – just remove your shoes and roll up your pants and sleeves. We can even address your back pain by treating points on your wrists and hands. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing to your appointment.

For most people, it takes a few treatments to begin to feel results. Each treatment is cumulative, building on the one before. Most people feel extremely relaxed after a session and many take a nap while they are in the clinic.

I love that community acupuncture is affordable healthcare without any legislation or partisanship. It’s just dedicated practitioners with generous, creative intentions to make healthcare accessible to their communities. How fortunate for us to have this ancient healing method available in times of acute or chronic challenges, as well as a support for a balanced healthy lifestyle. I’ve benefited from Nicole’s treatments and advice for particular issues like insomnia and joint/tendon injury. Receiving regular treatments has improved and supported my general sense of well being. Thank you Nicole and the People’s Organization for Community Acupuncture!

Private acupuncture treatments are a great choice if you prefer to be alone in a room while getting care or need more extensive gua sha or cupping. During your initial treatment, you will share your health history and health goals. Your acupuncturist will give you a treatment plan that will include a series of acupuncture treatments over a certain period of time. Cupping, gua sha, low level light therapy or herbal medicine may be prescribed, dependent on your needs and wants.

Your treatment will take about an hour. Please wear loose fitting clothing. You will receive private care on a table or in a recliner, dependent on your needs. For most people, it takes a few treatments to begin to feel results. Each treatment is cumulative, building on the one before. Most people feel extremely relaxed after a session and many take a nap while they are in the clinic.

Five months ago I never thought I’d have my life back. After suffering with chronic anxiety and panic for over a year, I tried acupuncture as my last resort. It’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I’m able to function daily without stress of anxiety and panic. I’m much more relaxed and able to cope. I strongly recommend acupuncture for anyone having anxiety!
