Herbal Spotlight: Yin Qiao
Cold Care for Rainy Days
The only constant is change. Mother Nature is such a good teacher of this simple, yet really hard to accept truth. These next few weeks of spring will have us gearing up for summer warmth with cold nights, high winds and intermittent rainstorms.
As the weather shifts, our bodies require that we also make some shifts. Just like grandma said, dress for the weather. It’s time to get our scarves out and keep out necks warm and covered. Get your crock pot out and start making some warming soups with root vegetables and ginger.
If your daily care isn’t keeping the cold out, know that acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine can be a great support at shortening the duration of colds and also building your immune system so you don’t get sick again. And again.
There are some wonderful herbal formulas to take at any stage of a cold or flu. Ask me about them and I’ll be sure to gush over how great I find them to work for myself and also the many clinic goers that swear by their efficacy.
While there are a few to choose from for initial onset (when your throat gets scratchy, your eyes start to water and your body gets a little achey), Yin Qiao is one of my favorites.
It is always on the shelves at JCA.
Here’s to staying well through the cold weather! And maybe even to a mild summer! 🙂
