How Community and Happiness are Complementary

Part of what we do at JCA is build community around the beautiful concept of affordable, accessible healthcare that gently restores health to the body through the use of tiny needles and natural herbal medicine. Below is an excerpt from this blog post when it was originally posted on our old website’s blog in 2015:

“I regularly experience how community and connection help people lead healthier, happier lives. Everyday at work, I have the unique opportunity to see a group of strangers trusting a space to nap and heal. I also experience how the simple act of listening helps people feel better, feel cared for and begin to thrive. When I walk into a store where the owners and employees know me and greet me, I get to spend a few minutes with friends. These small acts of kindness and connection add up to a fuller heart, greater feelings that we matter and give us a chance to practice smiling.

At JCA, we have a mission to build community outside of the treatment room.”

This sentiment is still engrained in the way JCA is run today. If you read our monthly newsletters or spent any time in the clinic’s bathroom (iykyk) you may have noticed that we are always promoting community events and gatherings. JCA itself used to function as a community healing space AND as a hub for smaller community gatherings. However, the pandemic changed the way we support community growth – in a good way. We couldn’t have as many people in our cozy clinic as we once did, so we had to utilize other means to gather.

In recent years Nicole has been able to organize events at larger community spaces that can include more people, as well as make ample space within our clinic for flyers and business cards for other local events. Over our time on Stangl, we have seen firsthand how our local community has blossomed into a bustling center for all who come. With the recent relocation of the Flemington DIY across the street at 26 Stangl Rd, our community has become an even larger hub for arts and gatherings.

We will continue to foster strong community relationships that build happiness among all who wish to be a part of it. Feel free to bring in flyers for your local events so we can share them as well! Book an appointment online by clicking here, or call/text us at (908)237-1076.
