Tea Infusions: How to Make Them
To make an Herbal Infusion, use the delicate parts of the plant, like flowers and leaves. If you are using roots or branches, you will simmer it, which is a different process. Simply boil water, pour the water into a quart jar with about one ounce of herbs (or about 1 cup of water to 1 TB of herbs). You can pour the water directly info loose herbs within a container or mug, but you can also make infusions using mesh tea ball or another infusion device. (We have several mesh tea balls in stock here at the clinic). Let it sit for about an hour. Strain out the leaves and flowers. Drink the tea.
Herbal infusions extract the really nutritive elements of our herbs so that we can easily digest them. It is much easier for our bodies to absorb tea infusions than pills or tinctures. Regular consumption of nutritive herb mixtures will supplement our diets and keep us well. Some of the herbs that contain these properties are nettles, red clover tops, and oat straw. Many of the loose herbal tea blends we sell in the clinic and via our online store contain those ingredients.
